"... we are always harking back to some occasion which seemed to us to reach perfection, setting that up as a norm, and depreciating all other occasions by comparison. But these other occasions, I now suspect, are often full of their own new blessing, if only we would lay ourselves open to it. " (C. S. Lewis)

~ A Perfect Snow Day

The announcement came just after we put the kids to bed,

No School!

School is never cancelled where we live - at least not very often.

And when it is cancelled, it's never announced the night before.

Our county is the last to decide.

Sometimes every single school is cancelled for miles around - except our schools.

Life just continues as normal.

But with the news of a blizzard coming, they gave us what we were all dreaming about, longing for -

A reason to stay in bed

A reason to stay home

A reason to take it easy

and play all day,

to build forts,

and dig tunnels,

and drink homemade cocoa.

And then just when we thought the day couldn't get any better, any more beautiful...

The great Artist splashed a little pink ribbon across the sky - to make us smile,

His signature to remind us...

This masterpiece really is His doing!
