"... we are always harking back to some occasion which seemed to us to reach perfection, setting that up as a norm, and depreciating all other occasions by comparison. But these other occasions, I now suspect, are often full of their own new blessing, if only we would lay ourselves open to it. " (C. S. Lewis)

~ Oliver Twist

One classic tale by Charles Dickens

One timid little boy who says, “I think I’ll try it!”

A cast and crew of 41 kids

Twenty rehearsals

One seasoned director

An undisclosed amount of post-rehearsal trips to McDonalds for starving little actors

Many nights of tag-team parenting

Fourteen hours of tech week rehearsals

Countless new friends

Hundreds of trips across town (at least it felt that way)

One murder scene

Two original songs

One big brother on stage crew

One “not-so-timid anymore” little pick-pocket

Two incredible performances

One awesome cast party

And one little boy who could use a nap!

This was Ellison's first foray into the world of theater and mom and dad could not be more proud! Special thanks to our director, Mrs. Therese Burazin, who helped shape and mold our young hooligan. Photos were taken at our local Home School Drama Troupe's production of Oliver Twist. Several of the above photos are courtesy of my friend Tom of Tom Otte Imaging. (Thanks Tom and thanks for the lens!)
