"... we are always harking back to some occasion which seemed to us to reach perfection, setting that up as a norm, and depreciating all other occasions by comparison. But these other occasions, I now suspect, are often full of their own new blessing, if only we would lay ourselves open to it. " (C. S. Lewis)

~ Not a Baby Anymore

My little super-hero just celebrated his 5th birthday.
All he wanted to do was go to Chuckie Cheese's.

Well, that and get lots of presents!

My heart is a little sad these days.
He refuses to watch Thomas the Tank Engine anymore.
He's all about super-heroes.

That's o.k.
He makes a pretty cute super-hero!

So does dad!

Apparently, his older brothers have not outgrown having a little fun!

Well, maybe this one has.

Best part of the night:
dancing with Chuckie!

I'm guessing from this smile, this 6-year-old had a happy birthday!

~ Saying Goodbye

My family just said goodbye to my Grandmother. She lived a long and faithful life.

We celebrated her life and her legacy.

We sang.

We loved on one another.

We highlighted her uniqueness.

In honor of every piece of candy she ever handed to a grandchild or friend who stopped by.
Oh how she loved her chocolate!

We sang some more.

We gave voice to the things we loved most about her.

 We spent time remembering.

We said goodbye.
